The team behind the upcoming Sword Art Online anime film announced today at the Dengeki Bunko Haru no Saiten event that the new film will be released in Japan in 2017.
The film is titled Sword Art Online Ordinal Scale, and Yoshitsugu Matsuoka will once again voice Kirito, while Haruka Tomatsu will return as Asuna. The theme song will be composed by Yuki Kajiura. The film will feature a new story, set after the Rosario Arc, the final storyline of the TV anime. The story is written by Kawahara himself, and Tomohiko Ito will direct the film at A-1 Pictures. Shingo Adachi is once again responsible for the character design.
