Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari – The Rising of the Shield Hero: Fifth Season and Game Project Announced

The production of a fifth season of the anime series Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari (English: The Rising of the Shield Hero) has been officially confirmed. The announcement was made following the broadcast of the finale of the fourth season.

A first visual teaser shows the image of a phoenix, a creature that the main characters had prepared for in previous story arcs. A simultaneously released preview trailer contains scenes of the main group fighting in a dusty environment as well as the protagonist Naofumi with a tormented expression. Furthermore, an unknown person sitting on a throne is visible.

The author of the original novel source, Aneko Yusagi, as well as the character designer Seira Minami and the director Akira registered their comments on the continuation. Yusagi mentioned that the fifth season will present a great challenge for Naofumi and his companions and will test their resolve to protect the world.

Parallel to the anime continuation, a new global game project based on the series was announced. A first teaser image and statements from those involved in this endeavor are available. It is the first such project by the publisher Kadokawa for PC and mobile devices.
