Just before the start of the TV anime series "Tetsunabe no Jan!" (Iron Wok Jan!), the production team has unveiled another main trailer and the official key visual. The new trailer, titled Main PV (Back Ver.), features the character Otani Nichido from the original work, a sharp-tongued gourmet critic who comments on protagonist Jan Akiyama in a highly idiosyncratic manner. A first main trailer (Front Ver.) had already been released, focusing on the heated cooking duels. The "back side" version, on the other hand, presents Jan's "dangerous charm" from the perspective of his greatest adversary and has already sparked amused reactions on social networks.

With the announcement, voice actor Tomokazu Sugita was also confirmed as a new addition to the cast. He lends his voice to Ryuji Bito, a chef specializing in XO sauce who is the first "assassin" sent by Otani to take on Jan. Bito adores Otani and has made a name for himself in the past through risky high-stakes competitions. Sugita, who followed the original manga in real time, expressed his excitement: "At first, I couldn't believe there would be an anime adaptation. When I found out I would be playing the XO Sauce Ryu, I was totally over the moon. Yeah!"

The ending theme is the song "Naita Akuma" by up-and-coming singer Emunimini, who makes her debut in the anime field. The title is meant to musically capture Jan's contradictory personality—between a devilish will to win and vulnerable humanity. Emunimini herself describes the song as a "hidden ingredient" that rounds out the story.

The first episode of "Tetsunabe no Jan!" will air on July 5, 2026, at 5:30 PM on Japanese television (TV Tokyo and partner channels). A day earlier, on July 4, the special program "Tetsunabe no Ryuji!" will air, featuring cooking influencer Ryuji, lead actor Kikunosuke Toya (as Jan), and comedian Koji Yamamoto (Time Machine 3-gō). In it, they visit a real Chinese specialty kitchen that recreates original dishes from the series, and Ryuji shows simple recipes for home cooking.

Streaming services will launch in parallel with the TV broadcast: On Anime Times, ABEMA, U-NEXT, and Anime Hōdai, early streaming begins on July 5, with additional platforms like Hulu, Lemino, DMM TV, d Anime Store, Netflix Japan, and Amazon Prime Video following from July 12.

The original manga by Shinji Saijyo was serialized from 1995 to 2000 in Weekly Shonen Champion magazine and sold over ten million copies. The series saw several sequels, including "Tetsunabe no Jan! R: Chōjō Sakusen" and "Tetsunabe no Jan! 2nd." The first anime adaptation is directed by Ei Aoki (Fate/Zero, Aldnoah.Zero) and produced by Studio TROYCA (Aldnoah.Zero, Overtake!). The screenplay is by Makoto Uezu, with character design by Masako Matsumoto.

To further build anticipation, several collaborations have been announced. From June 20 to July 18, 2026, fans can participate in a campaign in Yokohama's Chinatown with 33 participating restaurants: ordering a dish from the "fried rice" category earns a limited-edition original sticker. Starting July 18, the two restaurants "Tori Jū Mushi Izakaya Kome to Circus" in Takadanobaba and Shibuya PARCO will offer a special collaboration menu inspired by the anime's dishes. Further details about the dishes will be announced on July 10.

The anime adaptation promises to bring the legendary cooking battles of the original work to the screen with a top-notch cast and elaborate animation.
