A new trailer has been released for the film "That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Tears of the Azure Sea" (Original title: Gekijō-ban Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken: Sōkai no Namida-hen). The clip titled "Emotional PV 'Namida'" (Tears) is now available.

The film, which premiered in Japanese theaters on February 27, 2026, has already attracted over 280,000 viewers in its first six days and grossed more than 370 million yen (approximately 2.3 million euros) at the Japanese box office.

The new film adaptation of the popular franchise takes place after the founding of the Jura Tempest Federation. Rimuru and his companions are invited by Elmesia, the ruler of the elven nation of Sarion, to a vacation on her private island. What begins as a relaxing getaway takes a dramatic turn when the land is threatened by a new menace and the mysterious shrine maiden Yura (voiced by Saori Ōnishi) appears.

The emotional trailer begins with action-packed scenes showing the Demon Lord Rimuru battling a water dragon. As it progresses, the insert song "Sōkoku" comes to the forefront, sung by Yura's voice actress Saori Ōnishi. The melancholic score underscores moving moments of the shrine maiden praying for her land and opposing the sinister plans of Zodon (voiced by Koichi Domoto). Also shown are Rimuru trying to save Yura, and Gobuta desperately reaching for her. The trailer ends with a calm scene showing Yura and Gobuta gazing together at the Northern Lights sparkling in the night sky.

In addition to the main film, an extensive special on the Japanese news site Natalie offers behind-the-scenes insights. In the Comic Natalie section, artist Akapen Takigawa visited the animation studio Eight Bit to talk with the staff about their approach and dedication in producing the film.

The film was directed by Yasuhito Kikuchi and animated by Studio Eight Bit. The screenplay was written by Toshizo Nemoto and Kikuchi together. The character design is by Ryōma Ebata. The theme song "Utopia" is provided by TRUE. The cast includes Saori Ōnishi as Yura, Miho Okasaki as Rimuru, Tomoaki Maeno as Veldora, Makoto Furukawa as Benimaru, and many other familiar voice actors from the TV series. New additions include Koichi Domoto as Zodon and Kōji Yusa as Djeese.

The film is set to be released in theaters worldwide by Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment. A release date for Germany has not yet been announced, while the North American theatrical release is planned for May 1, 2026.
