The first teaser trailer for the anime adaptation of Tatsuki Fujimoto's Chainsaw Man was revealed today during the MAPPA 10th Anniversary Stream and announced that the anime will be directed by Ryu Nakayama (Animation Director for Barakamon, Action Animation Director for Sword Art Online the Movie: Ordinal Scale).

Additional staff members were also announced:

- Chief Director: Makoto Nakazono (JUJUTSU KAISEN, SSSS.Gridman)

- Script: Hiroshi Seko (Mob Psycho 100, JUJUTSU KAISEN)

- Character Design: Kazutaka Sugiyama (Kiznaiver)

- Action Director: Tatsuya Yoshihara (Monster Musume, Yatterman Night)

- Music: Kensuke Ushio (A Silent Voice, Japan Sinks 2020)

Fujimoto (Fire Punch) first published the manga in Weekly Shonen Jump in December 2018, and Shueisha released the 11th volume on March 4. The manga concluded its "first part," the "Kōan" (Public Safety) Arc, in December. The second part of the manga, the "Gakkō-hen" (School Arc), will continue on Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ app and website. As of March, the manga has 9.3 million copies in circulation.
