The Ancient Magus Bride season two announced for 2023

The production company Twin Engine has revealed in a video that the anime adaptation of The Ancient Magus Bride will receive a second season. The anime series, which adapts the manga of the same name by Kore Yamazaki, is set to premiere in Japan in April 2023. The announcement was accompanied by a first promotional poster.



This new season will adapt the "Gakuin" arc of the manga, which was published in 2018, and follows the two existing animation projects, including a 24-episode first season produced by Wit Studio that premiered in 2017.

Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the original manga and describes the story as follows:

Hatori Chise has lived a life of neglect and abuse, devoid of anything resembling love. Far from the warmth of a family, she has faced her share of troubles and hardships. Just when all hope seems lost, a fateful encounter awaits her. When a man with the head of a beast, possessing strange powers, buys her at a slave auction, Chise's life will never be the same again.

The man is a "Magus," a wizard of great power who decides to free Chise from the bonds of captivity. Then, the Magus makes a bold declaration: Chise is to become his apprentice—and his bride!
