An official website has announced the TV anime adaptation of Shin Kouduki's fantasy light novel series "Dekisokonai to Yobareta Moto Eiyū wa, Jikka Kara Tsuihōsareta node Suki Katte ni Ikiru Koto ni Shita" or "The Banished Former Hero Lives as He Pleases." This news was accompanied by the reveal of a teaser visual and the announcement that Shōta Aoi will voice the protagonist, Allen.
Sitting in the director's chair for the upcoming anime is Kazuomi Koga, with the project helmed by Studio DEEN and Marvy Jack. Rintarou Ikeda is in charge of the series scripts, which are written by Yoshiki Ōkusa. Saori Hosoda is responsible for the character designs, rounding out the list of talented professionals bringing the light novel series to life.
"The Banished Former Hero Lives as He Pleases" began as a light novel series written by Kouduki and published in January 2018 on the website Shōsetsuka ni Narō (Let's Become Novelists). TO Books released the first volume in October 2018, complete with illustrations by Chocoan. As of February 2020, five volumes of the novel series have been published.
The plot of the novel series revolves around a unique world where divine "blessings and gifts" are bestowed upon individuals who reach adulthood, with these gifts shaping the course of their lives. The story follows Allen, who, to his great shame, receives no power and is consequently banished from his household. He chooses to live a peaceful life in a remote area, but what the others don't know is that Allen possesses memories and abilities from a previous existence as a hero.
To expand the scope of the series, a manga adaptation was released on the Nico Nico Seiga website in 2019, with the seventh compiled volume released on January 14.
