Variety has revealed the first details about the upcoming international live-action adaptation of the manga "The Drops of God" by Yuko and Shin Kibayashi, illustrated by Okimoto Shu. The series will consist of eight one-hour episodes set in France, Italy, and Japan.
Oded Ruskin (Absentia, No Man's Land) is directing the series, and Quoc Dang Tran (Marianne, Parallel) has written the screenplay. Klaus Zimmermann of Dynamic (Borgia, Trapped) is the producer of the series. The preliminary cast includes actor Tomohisa Yamashita and French actress Fleur Geffrier.
The story follows a woman who learns that her estranged father has left her the greatest wine collection in the world. To claim her inheritance, she must compete against a Japanese man whom her father regarded as a son—and who may have been more than that.
