In Episode 7, the story begins with Tokiyuki and his friends—Kojiro, Ayako, Shizuku, and Genba—exploring a frozen lake. As they move through nature, the scene shifts to the strategic maneuvers of Sadamune and Sukefusa, who visit the governor’s residence in Shinano. There, they hire a mercenary named Shokan to seize an area in Suwa, having recognized the urgency of their situation.

Back in Suwa, Yorishige and the "Elusive Warriors" grow concerned about possible enemy spies. Despite Yorishige’s reservations, Tokiyuki volunteers to scout the suspicious area. Equipped with supplies and Yorishige’s cautious advice, the group sets out for the Nakayama estate. Upon arrival, however, they are ambushed by a swordsman named Fubuki and surrounded by enemies.

During the ensuing confrontation, flashbacks reveal the intense training Tokiyuki, Kojiro, and Ayako underwent, highlighting Tokiyuki’s realization that his friends had protected him during their drills. Fubuki, who recognizes Shizuku from a previous encounter, ends the fight and explains the situation: The village children had been forced to fend for themselves after all the adults were killed. Impressed by their resilience, Fubuki expresses a desire to serve a lord who can make use of their skills.

Tokiyuki, determined to protect the village and earn his classmates’ respect, offers to support Fubuki and the children in their struggle. Despite Shizuku’s concerns for their safety, Tokiyuki remains, driven by their sense of responsibility for the orphaned children. As they prepare for the coming battle, the episode ends with Shokan ruthlessly rallying his troops for the impending conflict.
