In Episode 8, Fubuki reveals his strategy to Tokiyuki and his allies, while Shizuku briefs the others on their roles. Tokiyuki and Fubuki engage in a sparring match, where Fubuki is impressed by Tokiyuki's evasive maneuvers but notes his lack of swordsmanship. Tokiyuki expresses his desire to improve, prompting Fubuki to promise teaching him the advanced technique of the Demon-Heart Buddha Blade, which is only effective in a one-on-one duel.

As the battle begins, Shokan's troops advance, showcasing his tactical prowess. Despite initial successes on Tokiyuki's side with arrow attacks, Shokan and his elite trio manage to breach the village's defenses. Fubuki observes the events from afar and recognizes the enemy's strength. Ayako and Kojiro ambush Shokan from behind, but his armor proves impenetrable. They lure Shokan into Tokiyuki's hideout and lock him in, setting the stage for a one-on-one duel between Shokan and Tokiyuki.

Tokiyuki confronts Shokan about the massacre of the villagers' families, to which Shokan admits and justifies his actions. As they prepare for the duel, Fubuki, Ayako, and Kojiro face the remaining enemies outside. Tokiyuki skillfully dodges Shokan's attacks, triggering a flashback where Fubuki presents an alternate plan to Tokiyuki, emphasizing that he can rely on his evasive skills.

The episode ends with Tokiyuki standing before a bleeding and disoriented Shokan in the Buddha position.
