In Episode 9, several important battles and character developments take center stage. Tokiyuki utilizes the sword techniques learned from Fubuki to wound Shokan, unsettling him with unexpected skill and composure. While Shokan fights, the episode focuses on Kojiro, Ayako, and Shizuku as they face one of Shokan's allies. Through a combination of taunts, strategy, and teamwork, they manage to overpower and defeat their opponent, showcasing their growing bond and combat abilities.

Meanwhile, Fubuki engages in a duel with Furan and analyzes his unconventional swordsmanship. Fubuki realizes that Furan does not truly master the sword and exploits this weakness to defeat him. Back in the main battle, Shokan grows increasingly desperate as he fails to land a hit on Tokiyuki and suffers from blood loss. A flashback reveals Shokan's past ambition and dissatisfaction over his lack of territory, which drove him to pursue power through ruthless means. Overwhelmed, Shokan eventually sees a spiritual vision of Tokiyuki and surrenders.

After Shokan's defeat, reinforcements arrive, led by Sadamune, who plans a strategic retreat. Yorishige arrives with Suwa's main army just in time to secure the victory. Tokiyuki asks Fubuki to join his retinue, but Fubuki initially refuses, as he wishes to serve a lord faithfully. Upon learning of Tokiyuki's lineage, he agrees—but only for a high price.
