Episode 9 of The Fable begins with Misaki returning home, and Kojima offers her a shady job. Misaki refuses and threatens to call the police, but Kojima intimidates her and gives her his number. He demands that she calls him regularly, otherwise, he would show up at her workplace.

Sunagawa visits Hiroshi and suspects that Kojima is behind his father's disappearance. He asks for permission to interrogate Kojima, but Hiroshi denies it, stating that there must be no violence in Taihei. Hiroshi agrees to reconsider if Sunagawa presents solid evidence against Kojima.

At work, Misaki discusses Fable's drawings with her boss, who insists that Fable must attend a banquet dinner with Misaki. Meanwhile, Takeshi reflects on Kojima's threats in the hospital.

At the restaurant, Misaki and Fable talk about his strict upbringing. Fable receives a text from Takeshi, asking to meet. Misaki finds Fable and Yoko strange, but Fable reassures her.

Sunagawa asks Takahashi to arrange a meeting with Kojima, as he plans to deal with him using professional help. Fable meets Takeshi, who asks him to monitor Kojima's activities. Fable reluctantly agrees and investigates Kojima's warehouse, where he finds clues about his plans.

Misaki receives a call about her injured manager and suspects Kojima is involved. Kojima denies it but hints that Misaki could face similar troubles. Takeshi, fearing a confrontation between Sunagawa and Kojima, asks Fable for help. Fable isn’t interested until Takeshi offers his car as a reward. The episode ends with Sunagawa meeting the professional and his middleman.
