The Rose of Versailles: New voice actors and dynamic trailer revealed

The upcoming animated film The Rose of Versailles, based on the classic manga by Riyoko Ikeda, has announced seven additional voice actors. A new trailer has also been released, showcasing the powerful and emotional journey of the protagonist, Oscar.

Fumi Hirano will play the role of Madame Noailles, the governess of Marie-Antoinette. Yoshitada Otsuka voices King Louis XV, the grandfather of Louis XVI, who ruled at the time of Marie's arrival in France. Saori Hayami will be heard as Rosalie, a young woman Oscar encounters in the impoverished streets of Paris. Other members of the French Guard include Hitoshi Yamanoi as Colonel Dague and Akio Otsuka as General Bouillé, Oscar's superior. Sumi Shimamoto lends her voice to Madame Jarjayes, Oscar's mother, while Kensho Ono portrays the historical figure Maximilien Robespierre, one of the key players of the French Revolution.

The animated film will be released in Japanese theaters on January 31, 2025. It tells the story of Oscar, a noblewoman who dresses as a man, and Queen Marie-Antoinette, both of whom face fateful challenges in the opulent yet turbulent world of 18th-century Versailles. The film promises an emotional portrayal of their lives amid major historical upheavals.
