The second season of the "Vinland Saga" starts in January 2023

New details and a new promo video for the second season of the anime series Vinland Saga have been released. The video announces that the second season will air on Japanese television in January 2023.



Shuhei Yabuta, who worked on the first season, has also tweeted that the staff will return. Yabuta is currently working at MAPPA, although he directed the first season of Vinland Saga as a freelancer.

The newly announced cast members include:

- Shunsuke Takeuchi as Einar

- Mayumi Sako as Arnheid

- Fuminori Komatsu as Snake

- Yuu Hayashi as Olmar

- Taiten Kusunoki as Thorgil

Returning cast members include:

- Yūto Uemura as Thorfinn

- Kensho Ono as Canute

- Akio Ohtsuka as Thorkell

The first season of the anime aired in 2019 and consisted of 24 episodes.

Vinland Saga is based on a manga by Makoto Yukimura, originally serialized in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine. In late 2005, the manga moved to the magazine Afternoon, where it is still ongoing. The series now spans 26 volumes with a total circulation of over 7 million copies. The story dramatizes the history of Cnut the Great, with a strong focus on Thorfinn Karlsefni Thórdarson, who is given a brooding personality and a goal of revenge.
