The Weakest Tamer Began a Journey to Pick Up Trash follows the story of Ivy, a young girl reborn in an RPG-like world as the weakest class and rank. Disowned by her parents due to her status as a non-star tamer, Ivy learns to survive on her own by foraging from nature and salvaging what she can. Ivy's life takes a turn when she tames Sora, a lowly slime, and discovers that this seemingly weak monster has something special about it.

Aina Suzuki voices the protagonist Ivy, while Mutsumi Tamura plays the slime Sora, both reprising their roles from a previous CD for the franchise. The anime is directed by Naoki Horiuchi at Studio Massket, with Shigeyasu Yamauchi serving as chief director. Katsuhiko Takayama is in charge of series composition, while Feng Cheng Hu and Yuki Ikeda are the character designers. Kujira Yumemi composes the music, and Lantis handles music production.

The novel series The Weakest Tamer Began a Journey to Pick Up Trash began serialization on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in November 2018 and remains ongoing. TO Books started publishing the story in print with illustrations by Nama in November 2019, with the latest novel volume released in November 2022.
