In this episode, the confrontation escalates as Cugat, an elemental mage who has gained the power of the Great Ice Elemental, attacks Helga with an ice assault. Guideau, preparing to counterattack, is instructed by Ashaf not to abandon their strategic advantage and orders Helga to flee. Despite Guideau's efforts, Cugat incapacitates her with his ice magic and pursues Helga, who manages to dodge a massive ice block but is wounded by a wooden stake in the process and loses her sword.

The demon sword, Ashgan, unexpectedly communicates not with Helga but with Cugat, who wields it against her. Guideau intervenes, hurling a lamppost to drive Cugat away and attempts to secure Ashgan, leading to a brief skirmish with Cugat's allies. Ultimately, Guideau throws the sword away to avoid capture, thinking of his disdain for them as they demand its return.

As the two attempt to flee, Cugat summons a cloud giant that captures them. Ashaf confronts Cugat, hinting at how easily witches can be blamed in societal deaths, suggesting a conspiracy by the Executioners, a secret witch-hunting group. Meanwhile, a church figure manipulates the soldiers in Fortress Paladin to violently seize Ashgan, revealing his control over them through a magical artifact.

The episode culminates in betrayal when Cugat's partner Lowell, believing him to be a traitor, mortally wounds him. Guideau, unfazed by an attempt at control by the Executioner, escapes with Helga and Ashgan. When Helga is captured, she is abandoned by Guideau, who flees, leaving a desperate Helga behind.
