The anime "Takopi no Genzai" (also known as "Takopi's Original Sin") is getting a theatrical version. The film is titled "Takopi no Genzai - Arigatō, Mata Ashita -" (in German: "Takopi no Genzai – Thank You, See You Tomorrow") and will re-edit the six episodes of the series for the big screen, including additional scenes. At the same time, a first trailer was released, announcing the emotional return to the world of the series with the words "To all who have met Takopi. Experience this story once again."

The source material comes from mangaka Taizan 5, who published the story from December 2021 to March 2022 on the Shonen Jump+ platform. The manga comprises only two volumes but still achieved a cumulative circulation of over 1.8 million copies (including digital versions) and ranked third on the "Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2023" list in the male reader category. The animation was handled by Studio ENISHIYA under the direction of Shinya Iino. The series aired as a pure streaming production from June to August 2025 but developed into a global phenomenon. It won the Filmarks Award 2025 for Best Anime of the Year and was nominated in seven categories at the Crunchyroll Anime Award 2026, including Anime of the Year. The Annecy International Animated Film Festival 2026 also included the series in its TV program.

Taizan 5 expressed excitement in a statement: "Thank you for the film adaptation! I will never forget the overwhelming impression the first episode made during the advance screening in the cinema – the great acoustics and the huge screen. I am thrilled and will definitely watch the film multiple times. I am also very curious about the new scenes with the characters. I hope many of you will come and see it too!"

The additional staff includes character designer Keita Nagahara, composer Yoshiaki Fujisawa, and the production team from TBS Television. The voice cast is led by Kurumi Mamiya as Takopi, Reina Ueda as Shizuka, Konomi Kohara as Marina, Anna Nagase as Azuma, and Ryota Ohsaka as Jun’ya. An exact theatrical release date has not yet been announced.
