The manga "Tonari no Yōkai-san" (The Yōkai Next to Me) by noho will soon be adapted into an anime, as the creator confirmed on Thursday. The anime, intended for television, is set to air in 2024.

The announcement was made via noho's personal Twitter account, where an artwork featuring a character from the series was shared.

The manga itself began its journey in 2018 on Twitter and was later published by East Press on the Mato Grosso website.

"Tonari no Yōkai-san" is set in a rural town and portrays the peaceful coexistence of yōkai (traditional Japanese spirits or monsters), humans, and gods, capturing their carefree, heartwarming, and occasionally mysterious lives.

In the first story, the reader meets Buchio, a 20-year-old cat who unexpectedly transforms into a mythical Nekomata creature. Disturbed by his sudden transformation, Buchio begins attending a "Bakegaku" academy for such supernatural beings, accompanied by a shape-shifting fox named Yuri.
