The animated film for "The Girl from the Other Side" will be included in the special edition of the original book, which will be released as an OAD on March 10, 2022. The film is produced by WIT STUDIO and directed by Yutaro Kubo and Satomi Yoneya, after the short film was already announced for 2019.
The trailer features the character voices of Sense (played by Jun Fukuyama) and Sheeva (played by Lee Takahashi). The clip shows Sense and Sheeva walking hand in hand and sitting across from each other at the table.

Wit Studio previously produced a 10-minute anime adaptation of the manga, which premiered in August 2019 at the Fantasia Festival in Montreal. The manga also ended on March 5 in Mag Garden's monthly magazine Comic Garden. Nagabe began the series in 2015 in the magazine. The 11th and final main volume of the manga was released on April 10.
The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) of the American Library Association (ALA) placed the manga on its list of the best graphic novels for teens in 2018 and 2019.
