"Tsukiatte Agete mo Ii kana": New Trailer Shows Discord Between Saeko and Miwa – Riho Sayashi Contributes Ending Theme

For the MBS drama "Tsukiatte Agete mo Ii kana" – the English version of the manga is titled "How Do We Relationship?" – a new trailer, a new key visual, and new character photos have been released. The preview shows, among other things, scenes in which the two protagonists Sawatari Saeko and Inuzuka Miwa clash fiercely; apparently the young relationship is facing its first test.

The series tells the story of the two female college students who meet because they both love women and then spontaneously decide to date each other. While they enjoy the joys of a relationship and grow closer, they increasingly have to confront traumas, fears, and unexpected longings they have carried with them for a long time. The focus is deliberately on the time after getting together – an "awkward love story" told with all its ups and downs.

The ending theme is the song "Kōfuku Shikkaku," which lead actress Riho Sayashi wrote specifically for the production; it can already be heard in the new trailer. "The upheavals and abysses of love that cross in the heart and that one wants to show no one – such fluctuations and conflicts of being in love, I have poured into words, melody, and voice," the singer and actress is quoted as saying. "The inspiration I gained as the actress playing Saeko from my own perspective is in this song. I hope it accompanies viewers on their journey through the series and, together with the work, leaves something in the heart." The song will be released as part of her new EP "OWN," which comes out on September 2, 2026. The opening theme, meanwhile, is provided by the duo Pilaf Alien with the song "Kyakuhon." Sayashi became known in 2011 as a member of the ninth generation of Morning Musume; after her departure in 2015 and a dance studies stint in New York, she has pursued a solo career and is increasingly active as an actress. In 2023, she took on her first leading role in a TV series, and in 2025 she debuted with the label Avex.

The eight-episode series starts on September 10, 2026, in the "Drama Tokku" slot on MBS; other stations such as TV Kanagawa, Chiba TV, TV Saitama, Tochigi TV, and Gunma TV will also air it. In Japan, it will be streamed on TVer, in South Korea on Heavenly; worldwide – except for Japan and South Korea – GagaOOLala will handle the broadcast. Additionally, the series will be available on FOD in Japan and friDay in Taiwan. Already on September 7, an advance screening of the first episode with a subsequent talk session will take place in Tokyo, with Sayashi and co-lead actress Sakurako Konishi participating.

The source material comes from manga artist Tamifull and ran from August 2018 to March 2025 in Shogakukan's "Ura Sunday" and in the Manga ONE app; the final 14th volume was released in April 2025. In Japan, the manga has been accessed more than 100 million times, and worldwide – including translations in the USA, Thailand, Germany, South Korea, and Taiwan – over one million copies have been sold. The English edition is published by Viz Media.

In addition to Riho Sayashi and Sakurako Konishi, the ensemble includes Eiku Yamashita (ONE N' ONLY), Sora Ijima, Yo Aoi, Reina Kurosaki, Ryo Hashimoto (School Zone), Kasumi Yamaya, and Ayaka Konno. Direction is by Kana Yamada (episodes 1–3, 6, and 8) and Sunhye Hong (episodes 4, 5, and 7); the screenplay was written by Miki Matsugasako, and the music was composed by Tomohide Harada. Momoko Nishiyama was involved as intimacy coordinator, and Yuri Igarashi provided LGBTQ counseling. The series is produced by K2pictures and Sazanami.
