On June 15, 2026, KADOKAWA released the sixth volume of the popular manga series "Tsukuritai Onna to Tabetai Onna" (English title: "She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat"). It is the first new volume since February 2024 – a hiatus of two years and four months. Coinciding with the release, the publisher announced that the series has surpassed the milestone of one million printed copies worldwide.

The story revolves around office worker Nomoto, who loves to cook passionately but can barely prepare large quantities due to her small appetite. By chance, she meets her neighbor Kasuga, who has a huge appetite and enjoys home-cooked meals. What starts as shared meals develops into a deep friendship, soon accompanied by romantic feelings. The manga series is described as a "food manga that engages with the realities of women's lives" and blends the genres of sisterhood, cooking, and girls' love.

Launched in 2021, the title quickly won readers' hearts. In the annual ranking "Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2022" (women's category), it reached second place. A two-season live-action series aired on NHK, further boosting its popularity. Merchandise proceeds from the series were donated to the organization "Marriage For All Japan," which advocates for the equality of same-sex couples.

Eight prominent figures congratulated the million-copy success with specially drawn illustrations and personal messages. Among them are manga artists Taniguchi Natsuko, Morishima Akiko, Minamota, and Shiina Umi, activist Nagamura Satoko (Kodomappu), author Matsuoka Sosuke (fair), actress and artist Nishino Emi, and actress Higa Manami. Higa Manami, who played the role of Nomoto in the drama series, wrote: "Being able to live in the gentle and warm-hearted world of the author was an unforgettable time for me."

The sixth volume bears the subtitle "Every Day New, Completely Yourself" and follows Nomoto and Kasuga in their daily life together after moving in. With new furniture, small worries, and plenty of enjoyment – "first of all: Tadaima and Okaeri." The volume comprises 162 pages in B6 format, costs 924 yen (approx. 8.40 euros), and has the ISBN 978-4-04-915995-0. Simultaneously, the series continues online on the Kadokomi platform; the current chapter 53 is already available.

The series is also an international success: An English translation is published by Yen Press. The sixth volume promises to continue the heartwarming story of the two women and once again delight with lovingly drawn dishes and empathetic everyday moments.
