Kyle plans to rescue Princess Milena from a predicted hydra attack to establish his heroic fame. He suspects an assassination attempt by Prince Carenas behind her death in the original timeline. The group monitors Milena's departure from Archen using Sildonia's scouting ability (in falcon form).

During the journey, the coachmen unexpectedly attack the bodyguards and incapacitate Milena. Simultaneously, they lure hellhounds closer. Kyle sends Theron, Liese, and Urza to protect the princess while he himself fights the emerging Eight-Headed Hydra. With prepared magic stones (Blizzard/Explosion), his poison-resistant dragon leather armor, and a risky maneuver (inserting explosion stones into a wound), he defeats the monster.

Theron finds Prince Carenas' seal on the dead assassins, confirming Kyle's assassination theory. After Milena awakens, she thanks the group but reveals that the mastermind is not Carenas but Zentos (Captain of the 2nd Royal Company). She orders the bodies burned to destroy evidence and flees with the group from Zentos' advancing troops.
