The upcoming TV anime "Majin Souzou-den Wataru" will premiere in January 2025 on six channels of the TV Tokyo network. The series, which was announced earlier this year, follows the classic "Majin Eiyuuden Wataru" from 1988 and has revealed new visuals, a promotional video, and information about the characters and staff.
In "Majin Souzou-den Wataru," the protagonist Wataru Hoshibe is portrayed as an aspiring "Ryutuber," a superstar in a world where floating blocks serve as the stage for adventurous battles alongside his partner, the mechanical dragon Ryujinmaru.
The cast includes Mutsumi Tamura as Wataru Hoshibe, Atsumi Tanezaki as Kakeru Tenbe, Katsuyuki Konishi as Ofurain, Meg Umezawa as Maro, and Rie Kugimiya as Ryunryun. Tomokazu Sugita will voice Ryujinmaru, the series' mechanical main deity (Majin). Other characters like Uzume and mechanical deities such as Fushinmaru, Kirinmaru, Tenshoumaru, and Juugoumaru will also appear, though their voice actors have yet to be announced.
Directed by Yumi Kamakura, the series is produced by Bandai Namco Pictures. Additionally, a manga adaptation will be published in the January 2025 issue of the monthly comic CoroCoro, released on December 13.
