TV anime “Okinawa de Suki ni Natta Ko ga Hougen Sugite Tsurasugiru” starts in January 2025

The TV anime "Okinawa de Suki ni Natta Ko ga Hougen Sugite Tsurasugiru," based on the script by Sora Egumi, will begin airing in January 2025 on TOKYO MX, BS11, Okinawa TV, Ryukyu Broadcasting, and Ryukyu Asahi Broadcasting, among other networks. Along with this announcement, further details about the cast, the opening theme song, and a preview of the main video were released.

The anime tells a romantic comedy centered around Teruaki Nakamura, a boy who transfers from Tokyo to a high school in Okinawa, and Hinako Kyan, who speaks in the Okinawan dialect (Uchinaaguchi). Kanako Higa, who also speaks Uchinaaguchi, helps Teruaki understand the local customs. Alongside the romantic entanglements of the three characters, there are also many "quintessentially Okinawan" experiences to discover.

Among the newly announced cast members is Etsuko Kozakura, who plays the role of Okimemo Shisa, an old protective lion statue from Okinawa, presenting the "quintessentially Okinawan" experiences. The narrator is voiced by Tarusuke Shingaki, a native of Okinawa.

The opening theme music is performed by the Okinawan band HY.
