TV anime "Chūzenji Sensei Mononoke Kōgi Roku: Sensei ga Nazo wo Toiteshimau kara." starts in April 2025

The TV adaptation of Aki Shimizu's manga "Chūzenji Sensei Mononoke Kōgi Roku: Sensei ga Nazo wo Toiteshimau kara." will air in April 2025. Along with the announcement, a first key visual, a teaser trailer, and the main cast were revealed.

The series follows the mysterious adventures of Kanna Kusakabe, a curious and lively student who is always hungry for new experiences—and for food. Together with temporary Japanese teacher Akihiko Chūzenji, a man with a perpetually stern expression, sharp observational skills, and excellent detective abilities, she confronts strange and supernatural incidents at her school. The work is a mix of school drama, mystery, and youth horror.

The key visual shows Kanna and Akihiko back-to-back in front of an antiquarian bookstore styled after the Shōwa era, bathed in the warm light of the setting sun. The teaser trailer offers a first glimpse of the supernatural occurrences in the series and also previews the voices of the main characters.

The anime series is based on a spin-off manga that serves as a prequel to Natsuhiko Kyōgoku's famous Hyakki Yagyō series. The manga began in 2019 in Shōnen Magazine Edge (Kodansha) and is currently being continued on Comic DAYS. Fans of the original work can look forward to returning to the captivating world of supernatural mysteries and thrilling detective stories.
