TV Anime "From Far Away": New Cast Members, Key Visual, and Main Trailer Released – Opening by Genin wa Jibun ni Aru., Ending by Nanashi no Tarou

The TV anime "From Far Away" based on the manga of the same name by Kyoko Hikawa has received a large influx of information: The project introduced four additional voice actors, a new key visual, the main trailer, and the two theme songs. The series will start on October 4, 2026, on Japanese television and will initially be broadcast on TOKYO MX. Other broadcasters include AT-X from October 7, ABC TV from October 10, and WOWOW from October 13, which will show all episodes free-to-air.

The source material was serialized from 1991 to 2002 in the manga magazine LaLa published by Hakusensha and, with a series of over four million sold copies, is one of the publisher's most successful works. In 2004, the series was awarded the Seiun Prize in the Best Comic category. For the 35th anniversary of the series' start, the classic is now being adapted as a TV anime under the supervision of the author. The story follows high school student Noriko Tachiki, who is transported without warning to a foreign world where neither language, geography, nor everyday knowledge apply. There, she is rescued by the taciturn wandering warrior Izark Kia Taj. A bond gradually grows between the two, but they are drawn into a vortex of prophecy and fate – an ancient prediction links Noriko to the unleashing of a disastrous power.

As new members of the voice cast, Kimiko Saito as Gaya, Tadashi Miyazawa as Gorya, Taisuke Nakano as Agol, and Miku Ito as Gina Haas were announced. In her comment, Saito described Gaya as a strong, caring, and warm-hearted "mother figure" of the group; Miyazawa plays Gorya, a seer in the service of Rachev. Nakano emphasized how important the tone of his character Agol's voice was when calling his daughter Gina, while Ito introduced her role as Gina Haas, a blind girl gifted with clairvoyant abilities. Previously, Tomoyo Kurosawa as Noriko, Kentaro Kumagai as Izark, Yuichiro Umehara as Rachev, and Eiji Takeuchi as Kaemos Lee Goda had already been confirmed.

Two Japanese acts are responsible for the music: The opening "Tōkōkō" is contributed by the group Genin wa Jibun ni Aru., which describes itself as a "new interpretation of idol culture"; the song was written by Kiyoki and composed by SARVAL. The ending "Hikari no Soba de" comes from the guitarless four-man band Nanashi no Tarou, originally from Hakodate. Its musicians, with lyrics and composition by singer Hayashi, expressed surprise at how deeply reading the source material for the work on the text had moved them. Both songs can already be heard in the new main trailer. The key visual shows Noriko, Izark, Rachev, and Kaemos Lee Goda and bears the slogan: "The story of love and downfall now awakens."

To celebrate the animation adaptation, several manga artists associated with the magazine LaLa are also contributing support illustrations and greeting messages. The first round includes Shinobu Amano, Meka Tanaka, Akiharu Touka, Bisco Hatori, Mikase Hayashi, and Kiiro Yumi. The production team is led by director Noriyuki Abe, known for works such as "Bleach" and "GTO." Series composition is handled by Rika Takasugi, character design by Eiji Abiko; animation is produced at Studio DEEN. Accompanying the release, the official X profile of the anime is giving away a key visual poster among participants.
