The highly anticipated anime adaptation of the manga 'Isshiki-san wa Koi o Shiritai.' (roughly translated as 'Miss Isshiki Wants to Know Love') by Ayune Araragi will premiere on Japanese television in January 2027. This was announced by producer Kadokawa on May 22, 2026. At the same time, the main voice cast and a first teaser trailer were released.

The romantic comedy revolves around the 17-year-old elite police officer Rinna Isshiki Milford, known as 'Steel,' who knows nothing about love. She is supported by the clumsy private detective Meishi Rokutanda. Together, they try to solve the mystery behind Rinna's heart palpitations, which occur whenever Meishi is near her—and begin a secret fake relationship.

The role of Rinna is taken on by Riko Akechi, known among other works for 'Ponkotsu Fuuki Iin to Skirt-take ga Futekisetsu na JK no Hanashi.' Meishi is voiced by Shuichiro Umeda, who was most recently heard in 'Hikaru ga Shinda Natsu.' Both voice actors expressed their excitement about their roles and the special atmosphere during the recordings in statements.

The production is handled by Studio Sakura Create. The director is Kazuya Komai, the series composition is by Deko Akao, and the character design is by Shōhei Hamaguchi. Other staff members include Noriyasu Murata for prop design, Satomi Nakajima as CG director, Akiko Saito for color design, and Yasutada Kato as art director. The music is composed by Michi (the name '未知瑠' is possibly a stage name).

The source material has been serialized in Kadokawa's 'Monthly Shonen Ace' since June 2020 and currently spans nine volumes. The tenth volume is scheduled for release on May 25, 2026. The manga originally started under the title 'Rinna Keibu wa Kokyū ga Dekinai' in 'Monthly Comic Rex.'

To celebrate the announcement, a giveaway is being held: signed autograph cards of the two main voice actors will be raffled off on the anime's official Twitter (X) account.
