The long-awaited anime adaptation of Tsutomu's manga "Ojisan wa Kawaii Mono ga Osuki" (abbreviated as "Ojikawa") has received an official start date, along with the main cast and a first promotional video. As announced by streaming service BookLive and publisher Flex Comics, the series will premiere on Japanese television in October 2026.

The animated trailer offers initial glimpses into the life of protagonist Miki Shoji, a cool and competent office worker who secretly has a major weakness for cute things. The lead role of the 41-year-old "Ikeoji" is voiced by Kazuyuki Okitsu, known for his roles in "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure" and "My Hero Academia." The voice of the mascot Pug Taro, adored by Shoji, is provided by Miyu Tomita, who has previously been heard in "Kaguya-sama: Love is War."

Alongside the two main cast members, Fuuka Izumi as Bosskichi, Yurie Funato as An, Asami Tano as Carrie, and Hinata Sato as Gurepi complete the ensemble. The trailer not only showcases Shoji's daily balancing act between professional seriousness and secret love for cuteness but also features a completely new story titled "Pug Taro & Friends," in which the cute characters embark on an adventure together.

Also announced is the insert song "Pug-tto Itchatte~," sung by the characters Pug Taro & Friends. The song, composed by YUPPA, has been available on all major streaming platforms since June 18, 2026.

The series is produced by Studio LIDENFILMS, known for series like "Aharen-san wa Hakarenai." Direction is handled by Tomoe Makino, with series concept and scripts by Yuu Sato. Character design is by Tomomi Kimura, and music composition by Alisa Okehazama.

The original comedy manga by Tsutomu has been serialized in the web magazine "Comic Polaris" since July 2017 and was adapted into a five-part live-action series in 2020 starring Masahiko Tsugawa. Eleven volumes have been released so far, with the twelfth volume announced for August 7, 2026.
