The upcoming anime adaptation of Tōwa's light novel series "The World's Strongest Rearguard – The Latest Explorer of the Labyrinth Country" (Original title: "Sekai Saikyō no Kōei ~Meikyūkoku no Shinjin Tansakusha~") has announced three more members of its voice cast.
As reported by the official portal, Hon'do Kaede will voice Misaki, Takao Kanon will voice Madoka, and Aisaka Yūka will voice Merissa. All three actresses shared brief comments on their respective roles.
Hon'do Kaede (Misaki) describes her character as a carefree and happy girl who often lightens the mood – and sometimes causes a bit of chaos. She said it was a great joy to play the lively Misaki.
Takao Kanon (Madoka) sees her role as a dedicated merchant whose charm lies in her unwavering diligence and her pure-hearted, tolerant nature. She also highlighted the teamwork in the battle scenes and the warm relationships between the characters as particular strengths of the story.
Aisaka Yūka (Merissa) describes Merissa as a girl of mixed heritage who works as a dismantler and is rather reserved with her feelings. She hopes the audience can gradually learn more about Merissa's thoughts and her interactions – especially with Madoka.
The series is set in a world where the protagonist Arihito (voiced by Matsuoka Yoshitsugu) is reborn and takes on the Support class ("Rearguard") – a universal support role that combines attack, defense, and healing. Together with a colorful group of heroines, he grows beyond his limits.
Tōwa's light novel has sold over 1.8 million copies to date. A manga adaptation by Rikizō is being published by Kadokawa. The anime adaptation is directed by Yanagi Yūji at Studio MAHO FILM.
