"Uchi no Otouto-domo ga Sumimasen": Neguse. Deliver the Opening for the Second Half

The second half of the TV anime "Uchi no Otouto-domo ga Sumimasen" will receive a new opening song. As announced on the Aniplex broadcast "Aniplex One Focus," the band Neguse. will take on the second opening song titled "LOVE & LIKE." At the same time, the production team presented a special PV that focuses entirely on the emotional moments between the heroine Ito and the eldest stepbrother Gen.

The series is based on the manga by Akira Ozaki, which has been running in Shueisha's magazine Bessatsu Margaret since January 2020. At the center is high school student Ito, who moves into her new father's house after her mother's remarriage and learns there that she will henceforth live with four stepbrothers: the grumpy but family-oriented eldest Gen, the level-headed Raku, the withdrawn Shu, and the lively youngest Rui. From the new everyday life under one roof develops a romantic comedy that tells of the slowly growing family bond and the budding feelings between the characters. The manga has so far reached a circulation of more than three million copies; the 15th volume was released on June 25, and a live-action film with Mei Hata already came to Japanese cinemas in December 2024.

According to their own statement, this opening is Neguse.'s first theme song for an anime ever. The band was founded in Nagoya in August 2020 and consists of four members; defining features are the smoky voice of singer and guitarist Ryotachi as well as lyrics that directly capture everyday life and love. With tracks such as "Good na Ongaku wo," "Nichijou Kakumei," and "Orihime to BABY feat. Shio Reira," the group collected several hundred million streams, filled the Nippon Budokan within four years, and performed on the main stage at major festivals; on June 28, a solo concert at Yokohama Arena followed. In his comment, Ryotachi explained that he wrote the composition to musically support the world of the story. Since the second half no longer shows only family love but also very different forms of affection and emotional changes, he chose the title "LOVE & LIKE"—for the feeling of having strong emotions but not being able to express them properly.

The announcement was accompanied by several videos: in addition to the special PV and a comment video from the band, a version performed and sung by Ryotachi himself was released, presenting a previewable excerpt of the chorus of "LOVE & LIKE." A corresponding teaser video had already appeared the day before the official reveal, in which the name of the performer was still hidden and which attracted attention on social media.

The anime has been airing since July 3, 2026, and is planned for a total of 24 episodes across two consecutive quarters. The first half was accompanied by the opening "Aikotoba" by DISH// and the ending "Clover" by Shio Reira. The second half with "LOVE & LIKE" starts on October 2, 2026, at 24:00 on Tokyo MX and other stations. The series airs Fridays at 24:00 on Tokyo MX, Gunma TV, Tochigi TV, and BS11, as well as Wednesdays at 26:45 on ABC TV; internationally it can be seen simultaneously on Crunchyroll. Direction is by Hitoshi Nanba, series composition by Megumi Shimizu, character design by Shiori Hiraiwa and Yoko Fukushima, music by Gin (Busted Rose), and animation produced by Studio Lay-duce.

The cast includes Naomi Ozora as Ito Narita, Toshiki Masuda as Gen Narita, Taku Yashiro as Raku Narita, Kensho Ono as Shu Narita, Momoka Terasawa as Rui Narita, Daisuke Ono as Isao Narita, and Aya Endo as Saho Narita, as well as among others Yohei Azakami, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, Yo Taichi, Ai Kakuma, Kohei Amasaki, Yukari Anzai, and Jun Fukuyama.
