At Cuscull Castle, Lanak discusses a grand spell meant to sweep across the mainland, calming the nervous mages with Aeti’s powers. Tinasha checks on Lanak, who remains confused by past events. Renart and Tinasha debate the effects of magic on people and the possibility of casting a grand spell.

In Tayiri, Oscar discusses strategy with his allies. They speculate about recent attacks and the involvement of the Azure Moon Witch. Cecelia informs Oscar that the witch visits his brother Reust every night. Oscar confronts Reust, but their conversation is interrupted by an ambush from Cuscull mages, including Tinasha.
