Update: Fate / Grand Order: Babylonia announces opening and story

The official Twitter account for Fate/Grand Order Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia (Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majū Sensen Babylonia), the anime of the smartphone game, began streaming the anime's second promotional video. The video announces the opening theme song "Phantom Joke" by Unison Square Garden.

The song "Phantom Joke" is Unison Square Garden's first collaboration in the Fate franchise.

The anime will premiere on October 5.

The game is also inspiring a two-part anime film project. The first film will open in 2020.

Aniplex describes the anime's story as follows:

A.D. 2017 The last era in which Magecraft still existed.

Society was created by human hands, but the magi understood the truth of the world. Magecraft consists of techniques of past humans that cannot be explained by science, while science encompasses the techniques of future humans that Magecraft cannot achieve. Researchers and scientists from both the field of Magecraft and science were gathered to sustain human civilization under the Chaldea Security Organization.

But calculations then proved the extinction of humanity in 2019. The cause is "unobservable realms" that suddenly appeared in various eras of history, the so-called "Singularities."

Ritsuka Fujimaru, the only Master remaining in Chaldea, has intervened in these Singularities alongside the Demi-Servant Mash Kyrielight. He has taken charge of the forbidden rituals to resolve or destroy the Singularities: the "Grand Order."

A seventh Singularity was discovered in ancient Mesopotamia in 2655 B.C.

The land of Uruk, ruled by the wise King Gilgamesh after his return from a journey seeking immortality, was magnificent and prosperous until three goddesses and countless demonic beasts appeared.

These enemies brought Uruk to the brink of destruction. With a "Rayshift"—a method of time travel—Fujimaru and Mash arrive in the past lands of Uruk to confront the fortress city of Uruk and the Absolute Demonic Front, repelling the terrifying onslaught of demonic beasts. There, the people, who continue to live their lives to the fullest despite the great threat, fight on for their future.

Deities and demonic beasts begin their attack, and humanity stands against them.....

It is the time when humans and gods part ways.
