Urusei Yatsura - Episode 2

In the second episode of "Urusei Yatsura," the story continues with Moroboshi Ataru struggling to cope with Lum's presence in his life. Lum, unfamiliar with human concepts of personal space and privacy, often invades Ataru's space and shocks him, leading to a stressful life for him.

Ataru feels overwhelmed and decides to run away from home. His disappearance prompts Lum, Shinobu, and his parents to appear on television, pleading for him to return. During his escape, Ataru encounters Sakura, a beautiful but ill shrine maiden. After an initially awkward meeting, Sakura recognizes Ataru's extreme bad luck and invites him to an exorcism at her shrine.

The exorcism, led by Sakura, initially seems to go awry as numerous small demons appear. However, Sakura successfully performs the exorcism and feels healthier afterward. The process also catches the attention of the Grim Reaper, who appears to have his sights set on Ataru.

Meanwhile, Ataru's relatives, including Shinobu, Lum, and his parents, gather at what seems to be his deathbed. But Ataru quickly recovers upon seeing an attractive nurse—much to the dismay of everyone who was worried about him. Lum, in particular, grows increasingly frustrated with Ataru and continues to shock him.

Cherry, a character who understands the complexity of the situation, gives Ataru a yellow ribbon. This ribbon, when tied around Lum's horns, nullifies her flight and electricity abilities. Ataru convinces Lum to wear it by presenting it as a fashionable accessory. When Lum realizes she can no longer fly or use her electric powers, she becomes confused.

Lum's attempt to test her powers on one of Ataru's friends fails. When Shinobu sees Lum still clinging to Ataru and learns about the ribbons, she becomes angry, leading to a confrontation. Shinobu walks away in frustration after physically expressing her anger toward Ataru.

That night, Lum expresses her desire to stay close to Ataru, feeling vulnerable without her powers. Ataru recognizes the limitations imposed by the ribbon and tries to remove it, but Lum resists. The situation escalates when Ataru's friends discover Cherry's note explaining the ribbon's purpose, leaving Lum feeling betrayed.

In a show of strength, Lum demonstrates that she can still overpower Ataru even without her abilities. When Ataru finally removes the ribbons, Lum releases an enormous amount of stored electricity, inflicting great pain on him.
