Urusei Yatsura - Episode 30

In this episode, Ataru and Ten meet a merchant selling earmuffs. Ataru haggles over the price and buys two pairs for 200 yen, expecting Ten to pay half. After putting on the earmuffs, they experience a body swap. Ataru, now in Ten's body, seeks the attention of girls, who find Ten charming.

Meanwhile, Lum, who mistakes Ten in Ataru's body for Ataru himself, keeps him close. Sakura, suspecting something is off about Ten, is scolded by Lum for being aggressive toward a child. But Sakura's suspicion is correct, as Ten is actually Ataru.

Cherry also buys earmuffs, leading to another body swap where Cherry and Ten exchange bodies, while Ataru returns to his own.

In the second part of the episode, Ataru keeps arriving late to school. Lum suggests a shortcut using alien technology—a portal that leads directly to the school. They arrive on time but soon realize the portal also travels through time.

Ataru finds himself at a future class reunion. His future self is absent, but his classmates recognize his younger appearance. He meets a boy named Moroboshi Kokeru, whom he assumes to be his son. Lum, noticing the boy lacks horns, is distraught, believing she is not the mother in this future.

Ataru mistakenly assumes an older woman is the boy's mother, unsettling both him and Lum. However, they are wrong: Ataru's true wife is his childhood friend Miyake Shinobu. The episode ends with Ataru and Lum returning to their own time, uncertain about the reality of this future.
