Urusei Yatsura - Episode 35

In this episode, Ataru meets Ran in the park and witnesses her dropping a cake that is supposedly very nutritious. He mistakenly believes the cake contains poison after hearing her say it will "knock him out." Armed with her resourcefulness and a specially made vital monitor, Lum sets out to find Ran after Ataru suddenly falls ill, which is attributed to the mysterious cake.

Lum's journey takes her through a warp gate into a fantastical forest to find Ran, while she mistakenly believes Ataru has succumbed to the cake's effects due to a mishap with Cherry and the monitor. When Ran notices Lum's concern for Ataru, he clears up the misunderstanding and reveals that the cake was meant for Rei and was not poisonous but rather meant to be exceptionally filling.

The episode shifts focus to a charming subplot about a fox (Kitsune) who is in love with Shinobu. Inspired by a folktale, Kitsune plans to turn Shinobu into a fox for a day using magical horsetail sprouts. His journey through the town and the ensuing interactions with Ataru, Lum, Shinobu, Cherry, and Kotatsu Cat culminate in an unexpected twist when everyone accidentally eats the horsetail sprouts in a soup and transforms into foxes.
