Urusei Yatsura - Episode 39

In Episode 39, the story begins with Ataru, Shinobu, and Mendo flying to a new seaside café owned by Ryunosuke and her father on a deserted island. They marvel at the new establishment but learn that Ryunosuke's father bought the island for only 300 yen, causing tension between him and his daughter.

Upon their arrival, Ryunosuke encounters a ghostly figure who disappears after a brief interaction. This incident leads Mendo and Ataru to speculate about the eerie nature of the island. It turns out that the former owner of the café and his daughter, Shiowatari and Nagisa, died on the island, and Nagisa has returned as a ghost.

Complications arise when Shiowatari attempts to set Ryunosuke up with Nagisa, which would require an arranged marriage. This plan fails when Ryunosuke rejects Nagisa's affection, leading to dramatic revelations and confrontations about past deaths linked to a unique razor ice recipe. Shiowatari wishes for Nagisa to find happiness, which he believes can be achieved through a romantic relationship with Ryunosuke.

The plot takes a turn when, under a full moon, a legendary sea urchin appears, miraculously restoring Nagisa's physical form. Despite these changes, Ryunosuke remains steadfast in her identity, causing further confusion about the planned romantic relationships.

Meanwhile, a subplot develops in which Ten and Ataru become embroiled in a playful conflict with robots and dolls at home. Ten's adventures continue as he searches for a parasol said to grant his wishes, leading to humorous interactions with Lum and other characters. This subplot ties into Ten's longing for adventure and ends with an unexpected twist involving a nightmarish creature.
