Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth will have 28 episodes

The official website for the upcoming Utawarerumono Mask of Truth anime released a brand-new trailer and key visual for the series today, which will air in July of this year. It was also announced that the anime will consist of 28 episodes, with the first two episodes airing back-to-back.



Singer Suara will return to the series to perform the opening and ending themes for the third season, titled Hito Nanda and Hyakunichisou, respectively. The main character Haku will be voiced by Kentaro Tone instead of Keiji Fujiwara. Yuko Gibu will reprise her role from the game as the voice of Fumirul, while other voice actors from False Faces will also return.

The story is based on a video game by Aquaplus, which is referred to as the "final chapter of the Utawarerumono series." WHITE FOX animated Utawarerumono: The False Faces, which aired in the fall of 2015 and winter of 2016, spanning 25 episodes. Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth is a direct sequel.

Following the events of False Faces, the Yamato Empire is now ruled by a ruthless usurper who seeks to seize everything for himself. Now, the heroes must unite against the might of the imperial army, and the fate of the world depends on which side the various nations choose in this war. Secrets will be uncovered, and friendships will be tested. Will peace be restored, or will victory at any cost mark the beginning of the end?
