The episode begins with Thorfinn bravely facing off against Drott, one of Canute's soldiers. In a wager, Thorfinn must endure a hundred strikes from Drott without fighting back to earn a meeting with Canute. Despite the skepticism of the soldiers betting against him, Thorfinn withstands the assault, proving his determination and earning an audience with Canute.

During the meeting, Thorfinn tries to persuade Canute to end his conflict with Ketil. However, Canute, who sees himself as the savior of the Vikings, insists on the necessity of acquiring wealth for his cause and refuses to give up the farm. Einar criticizes Canute for his plan, which would result in the deaths of countless innocents. In response, Canute defiantly declares to Thorfinn that the only way to stop him from pursuing his goals would be to kill him.
