"Watashi o Kabetai, Hitodenashi" - dark anime with mystical relationship conflict starts in October

The TV anime adaptation of the mystery manga Watashi o Kabetai, Hitodenashi by Sai Nakagawa (English title: Devour Me, O Inhuman One) will premiere in October 2024. Produced by KADOKAWA, the series blends supernatural tension with psychological depth, offering first glimpses via a trailer, character designs, and additional cast announcements.

The suicidal high school student Himako (voiced by Reina Ueda) encounters the mermaid Shiori (Yui Ishikawa), who craves her "delicious flesh." A pact is formed: Shiori will protect Himako from other yokai until she is "ripe enough" to be devoured.

Filees Ai (Attack on Titan) plays Miko, Himako’s caring childhood friend, who becomes entangled in the conflict.

The released key visual depicts Himako, Shiori, and Miko in symbolic poses—Himako fragile, Shiori dominant, and Miko concerned. The trailer amplifies the tense atmosphere with eerie soundscapes and dialogue that underscores Shiori’s ambiguous motives.
