It has been announced that "Watashi o Tabetai, Hito de Nashi" by Sai Naekawa will be adapted into a TV anime in 2025. Reina Ueda will voice the character Hinako Yaoi, while the animation will be produced by Studio Lings, known for their work on "Yuri Is My Job!"

"Watashi o Tabetai, Hito de Nashi" is an intense drama about the relationship between a human and a mythical creature. The story follows Hinako, a girl who longs for death, and Shiori, a mermaid who craves Hinako's flesh. Shiori promises to protect Hinako until she comes of age, only to then "eat" her.

The newly released teaser video shows Hinako lying in shimmering, shallow waters as the gentle, outstretched hand of a yokai reaches for her. The teaser also features cheerful images of the tranquil sea in Ehime Prefecture, as well as scenes of Hinako sinking into the water while her voice can be heard.

The anime is directed by Naoyuki Kuzuya, with Yusuke Suzuki serving as episode director, and Mitsutaka Hirota handling series composition and scriptwriting. Character designs are by Sou Ikuyama, and Keiji Inai will provide the music. For Studio Lings, this marks their first time serving as the primary studio for an entire series.
