The selection committee for the Shogakukan Manga Awards has named the honored works of the current ceremony. Five series will be awarded this year.
In the children's category, "Unmei no Makimodoshi" by Futa Kimura, published in the magazine Monthly CoroCoro Comic, is awarded. The best manga for a general audience was selected as "COSMOS" by Ryuhei Tamura from Sunday GX. The award for the best publication in the youth category goes to "Dandadan" by Yukinobu Tatsu from the Shonen Jump+ platform. In the category for an adult audience, two works share the award: "Shukin no Mogura" by Natsumi Eguchi from the Morning magazine and "Hirayasumi" by Keigo Mashizo from Big Comic Spirits.
Additionally, the artist Moto Hagio receives a special jury award. With this, the committee honors her long-standing artistic work, which has significantly contributed to the establishment and recognition of the shojo genre as well as the medium of manga as a literary and artistic form. Her committed involvement in international initiatives against copyright infringements is also particularly highlighted.
The Shogakukan Manga Awards have existed since the year 1955. For the current award round, works were eligible that were published between January 1st and December 31st of the previous year in magazines, as collected volumes, or in digital media. A panel, consisting of industry experts as well as cultural creators, reviewed the submitted proposals from specialist audiences and readers to determine the nominations. The final decision was made by a jury, which included among others Genki Kawamura, Ako Shimaki, Kazuhiko Shimamoto, Kazuhisa Soya, Shiho Takase, Kobayashi Bourbon, and Taiyo Matsumoto.
