"Wonder Hatch - The Island of the Flying Dragons" will be released exclusively on Disney Plus

The new animated series "Wonder Hatch - The Island of the Flying Dragons" will be streamed exclusively on Disney Plus. The fantasy story intertwines the real world of Yokosuka with the animated world of Upananta. At the center are Nagi, a dreamy high school girl from Yokosuka, and Time, a boy from Upananta.

The series revealed new video segments produced by Production I.G. and announced additional voice actors. The cast includes Yu Shimamura, Kenta Miyake, Jun Fukuyama, and Kamiki Ryunosuke, who will voice the characters Kate, Vice, Gatz, and Maul. Other well-known voice actors include Toshiyuki Otsuka, Tomoko Miyadera, and Megumi Han.

Ryuuichi Otsuka, the animation director, explained his commitment to the project and emphasized the unique charm of Japanese animation, which lies in the complexity and nuance of expression even in still images, and therefore decided against the use of 3DCG.

"Wonder Hatch - The Island of the Flying Dragons" will start streaming on December 20. The character designs and concept art are by Posuka Demizu. In the live-action segments, Sena Nakajima plays Nagi, Daikan Okuhei plays Time, and Mackenyu Nitta plays Akta. Kenjiro Tsuda voices the terrifying dragon rider Jairo, and Shunsuke Takeuchi is the voice of Time's dragon companion Gaffin.
