"World Trigger": Teaser and Character Designs Revealed for the Completely New Anime Adaptation

The REBOOT project of the anime "World Trigger" has released a new teaser trailer as well as initial character designs. According to production company Toei Animation, a completely new adaptation of the popular manga series by Daisuke Ashihara is currently in development, starting from the very first chapter. The project is titled "World Trigger 1st Season" and will retell the story arcs "Border Enlistment Arc," "Large-Scale Neighbor Invasion Arc," and "B-Rank Wars Arc."

A first video offers a glimpse of the new version—including scenes from the "Black Trigger Scramble Arc," which is currently in production. This episode shows the encounter between the protagonist Osamu Mikumo and the mysterious Yuma Kuga, as well as his entry into the defense organization Border.

Main Cast and Staff Return

It was also announced that the key voice roles will once again be performed by their familiar voices:
- Tomo Muranaka as Yuma Kuga
- Yuki Kaji as Osamu Mikumo
- Nao Tamura as Chika Amatori
- Yuichi Nakamura as Yuichi Jin
- Hideyuki Tanaka as Replica

Behind the camera, the team also relies on proven talent: Morio Hatano is directing, Hiroyuki Yoshino is in charge of series composition, and the character design is by Toshihisa Kaiya.

Exhibition for the Anime in Tokyo and Osaka

Fans can also look forward to a special exhibition that offers a retrospective of the anime series. The "Anime WORLD TRIGGER Exhibition 'REBOOT'" will first take place from August 11 to September 1, 2026, in Tokyo (Sunshine City, Exhibition Hall C). It will then be shown from November 14 to December 6, 2026, in Osaka (ATC ITM Building, 4th Floor, Special Area C).
