The journey of the remade Space Battleship Yamato enters its final round: The seventh and final chapter of the series "Yamato yo Eien ni REBEL3199" bears the subtitle "Nijiiro no Rinne" (Rainbow-Colored Rebirth) and will be released in Japanese theaters on October 30, 2026. This was announced by the production team on June 26, 2026 – the same day the sixth chapter "Aoi Meikyuu" (Blue Labyrinth) had its premiere.
Along with the date announcement, a new teaser visual by Kia Asamiya was released. Asamiya, known as the creator of "Silent Möbius," is responsible for the image illustrations of the entire series. The motif shows a darkly sublime composition and bears the inscription "Kenran taru shuumatsu" – a glorious end. Three additional scene excerpts were also presented.
Advance movie tickets (Mubichike) for the final chapter are now available in theaters and online. The first edition will be delivered with a B2 poster of the teaser visual as a bonus. The price is 1,900 yen (regular price 2,000 yen). Simultaneously, sales of a digital Mubichike card with a digital poster and visit record have started.
"Yamato yo Eien ni REBEL3199" is the reinterpretation of the third theatrical film "Yamato yo Eien ni" from 1980. The remake project spans seven chapters with a total of 26 episodes and is considered the current continuation of the "Space Battleship Yamato 2199" series. The story begins two years after the disappearance of Gamilas and Iscandar: A mysterious object called "Grand Reverse" breaks through Earth's defenses, and the old Yamato crew receives a secret order that leads them into unknown dimensions.
Alongside the announcement of the finale, a Blu-ray special limited edition of the sixth volume was released in theaters. It contains episodes 19 to 22, a new jacket illustration by character designer Nobuteru Yuuki, and extensive bonus material such as script and storyboard collections. The general release of the Blu-ray and DVD is planned for August 26, 2026.
The creative team is once again led by Harutoshi Fukui (Chief Director, series composition, and screenplay). Fukui is known for works such as "Mobile Suit Gundam UC." Direction is handled by Naomichi Yamato, music by Akira Miyagawa, Shu Kanematsu, and Hiroshi Miyagawa. The animation studio Satelight produces in collaboration with studio MOTHER and YANCHESTER. Distribution is handled by the ODS division of Shochiku.
The main roles are once again voiced by Daisuke Ono (Susumu Kodai), Houko Kuwashima (Yuki Mori), Megumi Han (Sasha), and Koichi Yamadera (Abelt Desler). Other prominent ensemble members include Yoshiyuki Kono, Kenichi Suzumura, Tasuku Hatanaka, and many others.
The entire seven-part theatrical release began in July 2024 with "Kuro no Shinryaku" and continued with "Sekijitsu no Shutsugeki" (November 2024), "Gunjo no Asteroid" (April 2025), "Mizuiro no Sasha" (October 2025), "Hakunetsu no Ginga Taisen" (February 2026), and the current "Aoi Meikyuu." The finale "Nijiiro no Rinne" is scheduled to be released in Japanese theaters on October 30, 2026. An international distribution date has not yet been set.
