"Yani Suu": Seena Hoshiki Calls Anime Her "Most Representative Work" – Talk Show with Takuya Satō and Shinya Takahashi

As part of "AnimeJapan 2026," a talk show for the TV anime "Super no Ura de Yani Suu Futari" (English title: "Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You") was held on March 28 at Tokyo Big Sight. On stage, voice actors Takuya Satō (role: Sasaki), Seena Hoshiki (Yamada/Tayama), and Shinya Takahashi (Suzuki) welcomed the fans.

Takahashi, who hosted the event, opened the talk with a wink: "I'm Shinya Takahashi, the moderator – and my first appearance here at AJ!" Only after a short pause did he add with a laugh that he, of course, plays the role of Suzuki. Satō took the opportunity to reveal that Takahashi's tailored suit was a tribute to his series character.

Music and New Visuals

During the event, the new key visual was unveiled, showing the two main characters Tayama and Sasaki smoking behind the supermarket. Hoshiki expressed her excitement about the mature aura of the image. As musical highlights, it was also announced that the Japanese rock band "ZUTOMAYO" will contribute the opening song, and imase is responsible for the ending title with "Fiction." A new main trailer using the ending song also premiered.

Insights into the Characters

When asked for a brief characterization of their characters, Satō had a poetic answer ready: Sasaki is like a "matchstick." While the glowing flame during work is important, he primarily associates the character with the "gentle ember" that arises in the presence of Tayama or Yamada. Hoshiki described her role as a person halfway to adulthood – someone who still carries childlike traits, which are gently "nudged" by Sasaki.

Emotional Closing Words

Looking back on the completed recordings, Satō praised the pleasant atmosphere in the studio. Hoshiki added that during the recordings, great emphasis was placed on the emotional temperature of the dialogues. To conclude, Hoshiki expressed her gratitude with moving words: "This work will surely be my most representative work. I am so happy that I got to know this title and can stand here today thanks to the wonderful cast and staff." Satō added that the anime has also become a very special work for him.

Broadcast

The anime is based on the manga series of the same name by Jinushi and tells the story of the overworked employee Sasaki and supermarket employee Yamada, who secretly meet behind the store to smoke. The TV broadcast will begin in July 2026 and will air every Thursday at 23:56 on 28 stations of the TBS network.
