The manga adaptation "Yūsha no Kuzu – The Scum Among Heroes" by Nakashima723, based on the original story by Rocket Shōkai, is receiving a TV anime adaptation. Alongside the announcement, a first teaser image and a preview video were released.

The story is set in mid-21st century futuristic Tokyo, controlled by mafia groups whose leaders have ascended to become "Demon Kings" through so-called "Ether Enhancements." To combat these overwhelming foes, bounty hunters known as "Heroes" use a substance called "E3" to enhance their abilities. The story centers on Yashiro, a seasoned hero whose life is turned upside down when high school student Jōgamine forcibly becomes his new apprentice.

The series is produced by OLM, a studio known for works such as "Pocket Monsters" and "Kusuriya no Hitorigoto." Author Rocket Shōkai and artist Nakashima723 publicly congratulated the anime adaptation. Additionally, a re-release of the original novel version was announced, illustrated by toi8, whose first artwork was also revealed.
