The TV anime adaptation of Okemaru's light novel series "Yumemiru Danshi wa Genjitsushugisha" (The Dreaming Man is a Realist) is set to premiere this summer, according to a promotional flyer from AnimeJapan 2023.

Kazuomi Koga, known for "Rent-A-Girlfriend" and "Kubo Won't Let Me Be Invisible," is directing the anime at Studio Gokumi and AXsiZ. The scripts are written by Michiko Yokote, who has worked on popular series such as "Shirobako," "Prison School," "Cowboy Bebop," and "Rurouni Kenshin." Masaru Koseki is adapting the original character designs by Sabamizore for animation, while Hajime Takakuwa serves as sound director. Pony Canyon is responsible for music production.

The story follows high school student Wataru Sajō, who falls in love with his stunning classmate Aika Natsukawa. Although Aika finds Wataru annoying, he dreams of her love every day and relentlessly pursues her. However, one day, Wataru suddenly awakens from this "dream" and distances himself from Aika to regain his sense of reality. This unexpected change deeply unsettles Aika.
