Yumemiru Danshi wa Genjitsushugisha novel is getting an anime adaptation

Pony Canyon Company has announced the production of the anime Yumemiru Danshi wa Genjitsushugisha, an anime adaptation of the同名 novels by Okemaru, with the release of a trailer. The anime series is scheduled to premiere in 2023.



Yumemiru Danshi wa Genjitsushugisha is a light novel series written by Okemaru and illustrated by Saba Mizore. The series began publication in December 2018 on the self-publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō, where it continues to this day. In June 2020, the publisher Hobby Japan acquired the work and began releasing it in physical format under its HJ Bunko imprint. Since March 2021, a manga adaptation with illustrations by Popuri Yoshikita has also been serialized in Shōnen Ace Plus by Kadokawa Shoten.

Sajō Wataru, who is in love with his beautiful classmate Natsukawa Aika, keeps getting closer to her without being discouraged as he dreams of their mutual love. However, one day he wakes up and thinks, "I'm not really suited to be with someone as good as her, huh..." Once Wataru realizes this, he begins keeping a proper distance from her, much to Aika's surprise. "Could it be that she hates me now...?" Did her intentions slip out because she grew impatient after jumping to the wrong conclusion? This is the beginning of a romantic comedy revolving around two people who can't express their feelings and believe their love is unrequited.
