Yasuo Muramatsu was a Japanese actor, voice actor, and narrator. He was born on April 6, 1933, in Tokyo, Japan, and passed away on April 11, 2024, at the age of 91. His career in the entertainment industry began in 1955 when he joined the Shiki Theatre Company. He was a founder of the talent management agency Office Kaoru.

Muramatsu was a prolific voice actor with a career spanning several decades, appearing in numerous anime television series, original video animations, and theatrical films. He was known for his versatility in portraying a wide range of characters, often in supporting or antagonist roles.

His extensive anime filmography includes many notable parts. He played Emperor Dokuma in Gordian Warrior (1979-1981). He also voiced characters in long-running and famous series such as Hans in Dog of Flanders (1975), John Sadler in Anne of Green Gables (1979), and Jeffrey Wright in The Super Dimension Century Orguss (1983). He was the voice of Neil in Document Taiyou no Kiba Dougram (1981). In the 1985 film Vampire Hunter D, he played Mayor Roman. He voiced the character Tom in One Piece starting in 2005. Other significant roles included Kenzo Masuyama, also known as Pisco, in Detective Conan (2000), and General Revil in the Mobile Suit Gundam films and the Gihren no Yabou video game series.

Beyond original animation, Muramatsu was highly active in the field of dubbing foreign films and television series into Japanese. He provided the Japanese voice for numerous prominent actors in a vast array of movies. Some of his well-known dubbing roles included Governor Weatherby Swann (played by Jonathan Pryce) in the Pirates of the Caribbean film series, Agent Peter Sadusky (played by Harvey Keitel) in the National Treasure films, Bernard Nadler in the television series Lost, and Hershel Greene (played by Scott Wilson) in The Walking Dead. He also dubbed characters in classic films such as Duel and the 1978 NTV edition of Goldfinger.
