Marcello Mandò was an Italian actor and voice actor, born in Rome on February 22, 1933. He passed away in Rome on November 10, 2004. His career spanned several decades, during which he contributed significantly to the world of dubbing for animated series and films, in addition to his work as a live-action performer on stage and screen.
Mandò is particularly well-known among anime fans for his extensive work on the Italian dubbing of the series Fist of the North Star. He lent his voice to a variety of characters in the series, including Rihaku, for which he was both the seventh voice in the first series and the first voice in subsequent editions. His other notable roles in Fist of the North Star included the antagonist Jagger, as well as Borz, Han, Kaio, Heart, Elder, and Garf. Beyond this iconic series, his voice could be heard as Greg in the anime Captain Future, and as Toramasa and Arumaki in a dubbing of Ranma ½. He also voiced characters in Santo Bugito and La spada di luce.
In addition to his anime work, Mandò had a distinguished career dubbing live-action films and other animated projects. He was most widely recognized as the official Italian voice of the character Yoda in the Star Wars prequel films Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace and Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones. His other film dubbing credits include roles in productions such as The Adventures of Huck Finn, The NeverEnding Story, Conan the Barbarian, and Cube. He also voiced the character Geri in the animated feature Toy Story 2.
Parallel to his voice work, Mandò was also an active stage and screen actor.
